Help!
My buildings/contents is up for renewal and I went online to get a quote through comparison site. I ticked to say we were having buildings works. When I tried to purchase the policy I had to agree to statements relating to the build but they weren’t true so I called the number. I now can’t get a normal insurance quote and have been passed to an info site!!

Anyone got any tips of what you did or where I can go to get cover???

John Lewis were fine with ours but all companies will need to see your builders insurance policy. Similarly your mortgage company may want to see it, so my tip would be to a PDF of their policy so you can attach it as supporting documentation.

Try Home Protect, we used them this year as we were building. They stopped our Accidental Damage cover and would only reinstate it once all tradesmen were finished, and they didn't cover the extension itself until it was completed - my builder had a separate policy to cover that.

We used Towergate.
