Is there such a thing as a modern conservatory?

Something that doesn't scream GRANDMA at you?

We have a 50's ex council house and I'd love to extend it, but cannot be dealing with the fuss of an actual extension.

Is this the sort of thing you're after?

I think you're wanting a timber framed conservatory?

It depends on what you want the space for, if it is for an all year round living space, then it will need to be a more expensive constructed conservatory. Not sure what the extra hassle would be in a extension rather than conservatory except building regs but the extension would be a more valuable asset. I have a conservatory with a lightweight roof which gives a modern feel, but that was only because the conservatory was already there. It still needed building regs and I would have gone for extension if starting from scratch.

Sorry, I've got that address wrong, have asked for it to be deleted!

I think the peaked roofs on the Anglian ones make it feel dated for me.
I do like the first link, it does feel more modern.

An extension needs foundations and a darn sight more work and money, no?
I'm under the impression that you can just bung a conservatory on the back and walk away (never having done it).

I've just googled the timber framed conservatories, and they're nice, but I'm not sure how they'd look stuck on the back of our ex council house
