I'm going for a viewing of a house soon which is a bit of a renovation project but on a big plot and I know the houses on that road are generally solidly built. It has a big 20ft lounge diner and a relatively small kitchen. I'm not a fan of lounge diners and would want to be able to either create a kitchen diner or a dining room and separate lounge from the space. But the lounge diner has a chimney breast with gas fire in the centre of the wall. Does this scupper my plan (in which case it probably isn't the right house) or are there options?
