House still on rightmove after offer accepted

We had an offer accepted last week. It's still showing as for sale. One of the conditions of our final offer was it came off. I chased at the weekend and the EA said it should be updated by yesterday morning. Still no change to under offer or sstc. Not had memorandum of sale through either. Should I call again today?

They have access to change it straight away. I don't get why they're not being straight with you.

peachypetite · 26/09/2018 10:29

No reply to our email last night explaining we are considering withdrawing our offer

Why have you said you're considering withdrawing your offer? That's not exactly going to give them confidence that you're serious and, as a seller, I wouldn't be happy about having it taken off the market for what could be a flaky buyer.

Get a friend to ring up to see if they can arrange a viewing.

peachypetite · 26/09/2018 10:41

We have said unless we see some movement we will be withdrawing. It's been a week and in that time multiple other ridiculous things have happened that I can't be bothered to go into here but I have absolutely no confidence in these estate agents. Nothing is happening. I've had a look at their listings online and plenty others say sstc/under offer. They aren't being straight with us, we are good buyers in a strong position and aren't willing to wait around and be played.

You have to look at it from the sellers point of view and also remember that the estate agent is working for them - not you.

We accepted an offer on a property recently and were advised by our agents to keep the listing as available for viewing until the buyers had shown a financial commitment ie paid for a survey.

Have you paid for a survey yet?

We were more than happy to take the house off the market and stop further viewings but it really wasn't wise to do that until things were a little further down the line.

peachypetite · 26/09/2018 10:58

Not angelina - yes if they had been honest and said they aren't taking it off until a survey that's fine. What I am angry about is the estate agent lying and saying he's updated it on RM multiple times. From our perspective why would we pay for a survey when we could be gazumped and the memorandum of sale hasn't even gone out yet since the vendors can't be bothered to enlist a solicitor

In that case I would go back to the agent and ask them if they could give their client a nudge to appoint a solicitor. Do you have a mortgage offer in principle you could show them? That might also help. I can see how frustrated you are feeling. Buying and selling houses is majorly stressful we've been stuck on the other side of the coin with buyers who have no clue what they are doing. We have literally had to hold their hand all the way. It's been going on since June Angry

Wine and Cake helps. Keep calm and good luck Smile

peachypetite · 26/09/2018 11:30

We showed them mortgage offer as soon as we had the final offer accepted and asking about solicitor was in the email last night. It's so frustrating. I don't understand either since they said they were looking to move quickly at the start :( :(

I think some people just have no sense of time. And it gets really frustrating when buyers and sellers are running at different speeds. I reckon if I was your seller and you were my buyer we'd have it all done in a week! I think if you want this house you are probably going to have to slow down a bit and wait.

How long has the house been on the market? Do you think they are holding out for a better offer?

caliroll · 26/09/2018 13:15

I would only worry if they were continuing viewings so the only way to test that is to get a friend to phone up and attempt to book a viewing. Your offer was accepted only last week - you're jumping the gun a little.

They've decided not to sell. What a fucking waste of time! Ah well. Onwards and upwards - hope we find something even better.

Your instincts were right I think - hope you find something even better.

peachypetite · 27/09/2018 15:01

Yep, something was definitely off from the offset, with them not actually moving forward in any sense.

RomanyRoots · 27/09/2018 15:03

I wouldn't agree to taking it off tbh, ime these are the ones who mess you about.
Keep it on until you have actually sold the property.

RomanyRoots · 27/09/2018 15:04

Whoops, missed the update.
It was nice of them to let you know, good job they didn't take it off.

peachypetite · 27/09/2018 15:07

Romany I am not sure what you are talking about. Nice of them to let us know?! Well yes, they accepted our offer last week and then did nothing. Good job they didn't take it off? - it's coming off the market completely.

OP posts:
harriethoyle · 27/09/2018 15:14

That is so rude @peachy. I'm spitting feathers for you!

peachypetite · 27/09/2018 15:18

Thanks Harriet. House buying is awful. We've almost sold ours, expecting to complete by the end of oct. Luckily we have family we can live with.

OP posts:
Dickybow321 · 27/09/2018 15:20

That is so annoying Peachy. What is wrong with people? Wasting people's time.

@RomanyRoots I suggest you re-read the thread

RomanyRoots · 27/09/2018 15:49

Sorry, I meant it sarcy, like they could have let you know, just didn't come across like that, just ignore me.

peachypetite · 27/09/2018 15:54

There is so little on the market, nothing else worth seeing :(
