Porcelain Tiles that look like wood

Does anyone have them? I'm looking at some on Mandarin Stone and the price is pretty reasonable. I'm working overseas at the moment so can't get any samples. The photos on the website look amazing .....

We have them in our kitchen. I can't remember where they were from, but we get lots of compliments on them!

Crumbelina · 14/09/2018 08:05

We've got them as a splashback in our utility room and my in-laws have them in their kitchen. Get them! They're beautiful and great quality. In fact any tile I've ever bought from MS has been wonderful.

I have them in my bathroom floor. They're great.

I have some in my kitchen. They are wide but shallow for the edging around my sink and windows, they look really nice but are far easier to clean than actual wood. I got mine from Homebase about 3 years ago, I'm sure they are a good price too, I wish I'd got more for the floor. as they do look like strips of wood.

Thanks for the responses. I have a cat and hope to get a dog shortly so not having to deal with scratched flooring and being low maintenance is a bonus as well. Those that have them on the floor do you have underfloor heating?

These are the ones I'm thinking of

I don't have underfloor heating but I've never felt like mine need it. I have the darker version.

Mercurial123 · 14/09/2018 12:26

Thanks I want the dark version, good to know you are pleased with it.

We don’t have them yet but planning to and I have lots of samples sitting in my house! They do look really good, they have become so much more realistic recently.

One suggestion though, I notice the ones you linked to are in 900mm length, personally I would look for longer lengths (1200 is common and you can also sometimes get 1500 or even 1800) as it will look more like real floorboards and also because then you have less grout to keep clean.

Mercurial123 · 14/09/2018 14:03

Minipie thanks I didn't think of less grout I'll go for the longer length.

We have porcelain wood effect tiles with underfloor heating. We are really pleased with them. They look really good, a lot of people are surprised when they find out that they are not real wood. We have several dogs and the tiles are perfect for them. Not slippery and very easy to clean.

Mercurial123 · 15/09/2018 08:13

Imonaplane thanks good to know they do look like wood as photos can often be misleading. I'll check out underfloor heating to see if it's in my budget.

I have actually fitted the very same tiles from Mandarin and with underfloor heating. They do look good but they are not fun to lay.

Crumbelina · 15/09/2018 22:12

I made my husband lay some hexagonal tiles from Mandarin Stone in a fireplace. He was not happy. Grin

KitchenGuy · 15/09/2018 22:21

@Crumbelina. Where they those silvery gold ones from Mandarin. I have just finished laying them and after my experience, I think you hubby has a point, :) it would be a lot easier if all the individual tiles were not "unique" as the manufacturer kindly calls them.

Crumbelina · 15/09/2018 22:50

@KitchenGuy I have a feeling that they're discontinued now but these are the ones DH fitted. Quite a few 'unique' ones and he especially loved matching the corner tiles. Wink

@Crumbelina And by the looks, he managed to fit all the tiles without smashing up the fire surround in frustration. I will learn by his mistake, If I ever get married again it will be stated in the pre-nup, "is not required to lay "unique" hexagon tiles." :)

We have grey wood effect floor tiles in our family bathroom. We get lots of compliments on them and people often think they are real wood, but we've treated them in some way. Bear in mind they don't feel like wood though - they're much harder to stand on and there's no spring in them. Also much cooler.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 16/09/2018 16:20

Have them in our bathroom - love them! They look great, and are easy to keep clean.

Mercurial123 · 16/09/2018 16:44

Thanks everyone you've convinced me.

Could someone suggest wooden tiles that would look nice as backsplash in kitchen please.
