Short version: are two slightly different colours of grey ok in spaces that run into each other? Or is a pale pinkish colour in the hall ok where it then turns into a grey living room with a blue accent wall.
Long version: We're trying to decorate our living room and the hallway. The hallway runs through into the living room and it's a small house so you go front door to back door in a straight line in about 30 steps. I've tried a colour called peaceful taupe in the hallway and it's come out brownish and I think will be too dark. Also tried a few greys in lounge and concerned it will look cold.
Our living room is east facing. One wall in an aqua blue that will be staying, with the same colour curtains, and two dining chairs and armchair in other shades of blue, with a grey sofa. Other walls are magnolia at the moment and it is east facing.
The hallway/landing is also magnolia and the front door faces west, but has dark corners on the stairs.
My choices are:
Same grey throughout that takes on purplish and blue hues in the hallway but looks silver in the living room.
Pale pinkish in hall to make it look brighter and warm and grey in the lounge.
Two different greys that are similar but one is a flatter grey and stays true to colour on all walls.
Any opinions welcome.
