DIY kitchens, please help us decide

Hello lovely kitchen people. We've ordered a Stanbury kitchen in Light Grey from DIY kitchens but am having second thoughts about whether to go with Cornflower Blue doors instead of the light grey ones.

We have 48 hours where we can change our order. We have a sample of both the doors and like them both and just can't make up our minds. I first thought the Cornflower blue door looked a bit green so went for the grey instead. Now in the afternoon light it looks a lovely blue grey shade and I just can't decide! The grey in this light is now looking a bit flat to me.

Does anyone have either of these colour kitchens and want to help us choose? That's a ridiculous request I know and I'm sure they will both make a lovely kitchen, but if you know the colours and how they look in your kitchen it might help us decide. Thank you!

sdaisy26 thank you so much for replying and for the lovely pictures. Your kitchen is beautiful! Is that the Light Grey? The Linwood is a similar design to the Stanbury and if the Light Grey looks like yours I will stop dithering and happily go for that.

@starbrightlight yes it’s light grey. Can’t say I’ve noticed a problem with matching carcass colour either, looks pretty identical imo (& I’m quite fussy!). They’re not the greatest pics but I am in love with my beautiful new kitchen!

sdaisy26 · 21/08/2018 23:15

Oh no hang on, sorry. The kitchen is dove grey, carcasses are light grey.

starbrightlight · 21/08/2018 23:17

Wonderful daisy, thank you. Light grey and light grey carcasses. That's what I had ordered and will probably stick to though I might wait for this new Dove Grey door to arrive now I've paid for it.

I will have three toning door samples and might cobble them together to makeover our scratched old coffee table.

Yikes. Wonderful. Thank you. I will wait for my Dove Grey sample to arrive. I feel I will get this kitchen perfect by the skin of my teeth. Yours looks exactly the colour I dreamt of.

The Dove Grey sample arrived and I settled on that, with the light grey carcasses. Still worrying I've chosen the right colour but seeing your lovely kitchen sdaisy26 helps me feel I've made the right choice.

@starbrightlight you must be relieved to have finally decided! I'm sat with light grey, white and cornflower blue and I still have no idea!

Re. The sample doors. The driver can collect the and you'll be refunded the costs x

@sdaisy26 can I ask what floor you have? It looks great with the kitchen and definitely a combination with the white worktop that I’m looking to create. Thanks

sdaisy26 · 25/08/2018 08:47

@Beckyt80 it is engineered oak, but brushed & oiled rather than lacquered which most are. In theory this does mean it is somewhat less hard-wearing though we are 2 months in so far and it is holding up better than I feared. It also looks a lot more natural imo. We got it from uk flooring direct.

@starbrightlight great choice! Hope you are happy with it when it comes. When is your kitchen being delivered?

EmmaC78 · 25/08/2018 09:04

Sdaisy - your kitchen is beautiful. I have kitchen envy :)

4yearsnosleep Re sending the doors back for a refund - Thanks, that is good to know but for us it's too late as we threw out the packaging. (recycled, obviously!)

I know what you mean, it is really hard to choose. Even though I settled on the Dove Grey (and it's too late to amend my order) I still find myself moving the sample doors around to see them in different lighting. In some lights I prefer the light grey and love the cornflower blue (which is actually green) but went for the Dove Grey. What am I like?! I think I steered away from the Cornflower because it is quite a definite colour so might limit other decorating choices as it's an open plan room.

The Light Grey is a bit more taupe than the Dove grey (I love Taupe!) and yet I went for the cleaner, slightly blue Dove Grey - helped to a decision after seeing sdaisy26's gorgeous kitchen. I think I should chuck out the other samples so I don't keep comparing them.

Thanks sdaisy26, it's due w/c 10 September. I'm sure when it arrives I will love it. Fingers crossed, anyway!

@starbrightlight I threw out the cardboard too (well my 4yo turned them in to aeroplanes!) but diy still gave me the money back so don’t despair!

My friend is about to have the cornflower blue and it does look lovely but like you say is very definitely a colour. At least with the grey you can change the whole feeling with different accessories / wall colours very easily.

Does anyone have pictures of their Cornflower blue DIY kitchen?
