Are dark radiators a fad?

Previous owner filled our house with vertical anthracite radiators, unfortunately they are undersized in the living room and need replacing as it gets bloody freezing in winter.

As far as I'm concerned the "default" colour for radiators is white as it blends into the background and reflects more natural light. But that's not to say I mind the look of the anthracite rads, I've kind of got used to them, and they do look a bit fancy and different.

But I'm not sure if the current fashion for dark radiators is a bit of a fad that will look dated in a few years, and that white is a kind of timeless colour that will look good whenever wherever.

Any thoughts? TIA

Bump

What I'm really asking is if anthracite radiators can be a good choice of colour (depending on the surrounding decor) , that will always look good well into the future.

We have a dark grey vertical one in the downstairs loo and it looks great as a design choice. But for living areas, I don't think you can beat pure white for future proofing.

They will be the bathroom suite of colour in years to come, along with grey window frames.

Thanks both, you've confirmed kind of what I was thinking...i.e you can't go wrong with white!

I have horizontal ones. Absolutely love the look of them. I do like bold colours

I think the odd quirky one is quite nice. In a cloakroom for example. Otherwise blend in. Chrome ones need to be bigger and possibly coloured ones too. Manufacturers provide calcs for size needed for each type of radiator.

I had the same style in anthracite x 2 and white x 2 , both tall rads and both 3500 btu and correctly sized for the rooms. The white was hot and great but the anthracite never put out the same amount of heat.

So I'm sticking with chrome and white rads from now on.
