Urgent : Painting the house - Matt or silk?

Hi all,

I need to go now to buy paint - the handyman had a cancellation so he is coming now!
We are getting our house ready to go on the market. It’s a modern house with white walls. So it will be just 1 cost to touch it up nicely. I don’t remember what we used last time. What will look better - Matt or silk?

Matt.

Protectivebigsis · 09/08/2018 08:08

Silk shows up every single lump, bump, and blemish so I’d go matt.

Matt! Silk is very dated and unless your walls are completely flat will show every imperfection.

Ginorchoc · 09/08/2018 08:32

Matt!

bluerunningshoes · 09/08/2018 08:35

silk for high traffic areas - easier to wipe off

loveka · 09/08/2018 08:42

Matt. If you are going posh then Farrow and Ball Modern emulsion for high traffic areas.

Silk is horrid and dated.

Fluffychickenmonkey · 09/08/2018 08:50

Matt. Silk is awful

FlaviaAlbia · 09/08/2018 08:52

Matt, unless your walls are flawless, silk will show up every little imperfection.

BubblesBuddy · 09/08/2018 08:57

Matt for walls and eggshell Matt for woodwork.

LadyPenelope68 · 09/08/2018 08:59

Definitely silk, Matt looks so dull and old fashioned.

TheNumberfaker · 09/08/2018 09:01

We got the Dulux easy care paints. Matt but you can still wipe them.

Matt matt matt! Dp bought silk for our kitchen, got one coat on and realised it showed every little bump. Needless to say it is now matt!

Nearlyhaveahouse · 09/08/2018 10:46

Matt!

LlamaPyjamas · 09/08/2018 10:48

Matt is more trendy. Silk is so last century!

RachelAnneJ · 09/08/2018 10:50

Matt, didn't think anyone used silk anymore!

skippy67 · 09/08/2018 11:03

Matt for walls, silk for woodwork.

NicoAndTheNiners · 09/08/2018 11:07

Reminds me of the time a friend glossed her ceiling. Her dh wasn't impressed when he came back!

Matt! It makes rooms look bigger and walls look better. I've just paintes over magnolia silk with matt white and the difference is incredible
