Hi, my house is small, i want somewhere for the kids toys. My friend who is a joiner suggested building a small room with timber to the back of my lounge, do I need planning permission? It wont be used for sleeping

Like one of those garden offices, sort of thing? I wouldn’t imagine so.
A quick call to your local council just for peace of mind wouldn’t go amiss, though.

Kind of but rather than being at the bottom of the garden it would be attached to the house. Will make sure neighbour doesnt mind
Thanks for replying will be calling them tomorrow.

If it’s less than three metres it comes under permitted development, iirc.
