Hi, we are currently looking at houses in the area and are slightly worried about aircraft noise. Does anyone have any experience of this? Can anyone else suggest similar villages that are commutable to London? We are hoping to move from London to somewhere more rural but are unsure of where else to look! Many thanks x

Your best bet is to google the current flight paths and see if the village you’re considering falls within them. Visit at different times of day to see if you’re comfortable with the levels of noise. Another thing to consider is wind direction will contribute to noise further.

Lots of commutable villages around Tunbridge Wells would fit your criteria, it also depends on your definition of rural. I need at least a pub within walking distance. Grin

Trains into London from TW are fast and frequent. Hildenborough maybe another good bet commuting wise as iirc parking there is plentiful in comparison to TW.

Penshurst is lovely, the noise isn’t at all noticeable, although maybe having been living close to another major airport I’m somewhat more accustomed to it. Speldhurst, Ashurst, Fordcombe, Leigh or further north east of chiddingstone around Hildenborough and Weald. HTH

We’re not far, and aircraft noise is fine here. Pm me if you want to know where I am.

Thankyou! We have just been down there again and there were planes going over at a low level every 3 minutes so it seems thats out. Gutted as I really loved everything about the area. Time to find a new area! Thanks again
