Can I hassle buyers solicitor?

Just that really. Our buyers solicitor is so slow, in fact it's a conveyancer and they just don't seem to have a clue! We are due to exchange on August 2nd but cannot see this happening unless I push.

Am I able to call them to hassle them to exchange? Will they talk to me? Anyone done it, had success?

I'm not sure that is a good idea. I was in a similar position and was itching to ring up and chivvy them, but I settled for discussing it with the estate agents who did some gentle pushing to ascertain status for me.

No they are not allowed to talk to you if they know you have your own solicitor. Ask the agent to do some calling round.

Go through your estate agent.

Oh ok. My EA has been chasing but keeps on giving them the benefit of the doubt, they say they will do something and ultimately a week, 2, 3 weeks later it still isn't done. I know my solicitor sent them information yesterday and the EA said he will call next Tuesday to see if it's done - which it won't be as they don't do anything unless he is on their case. It took them 3 weeks to order searches after our buyer had paid for them, 4 weeks to raise enquiries after they had all of the information. My solicitor turns things around in 24 hours, I am so frustrated with how slow this company is. Our buyer has already made 2 formal complaints against him but it hasn't made a difference!
