We moved into our new build house in December 2016. We have just discovered the developer failed to send over all of the compliance and test certification, required for building regs to sign off our house .

Whose responsibility is it to make sure this was done ? Building regs , our solicitor ? We are in the process of selling our house and that’s why we found out!

We have just seen that the solicitor at time of purchase on completion says the building reg certification will follow . It never did .

The developer is being very unhelpful and we need these documents by weds to exchange 😞

Has anybody any advice how I could get this hurried along and where do we stand legally ?

Thanks

Ring the council and ask what is outstanding for building regs sign off. Get your solicitor to ring the developer and get the certificates.

Personally I’d be mad at your solicitor for letting you buy a house without sign off

The alternative - if it needs an inspection is to arrange one yourself through an independent company
