Water softener problem

I've got a Harveys DualFlo water softener that's never before given us any problems.

It's now stuck on the regeneration cycle. Harveys advised me to try resetting it by isolating for 20mins or so, then reopening the stopcocks. Not worked. Still regenerating.

Any tips?

How old is it?

It may be that the rubber seals have perished and jammed

I haven't got a Harvey but I think the service kit for Fleck ( a common supplier) is about £80 plus say an hour's fitting charge. I have mine done by a local water softener company. On reassembly the moving parts are usually lubricated with white silicone food-grade grease, and should last in the region of 10 years.

Harveys may have some approved repair agents near you. You're better off asking them as they like to think their design is unique.

Thanks for replying!

So the isolate to reset is about it for a DIY solution? Looks like I'll have to book a service visit, then.

The water softener is 5-6y old, I wonder whether it's still under guarantee? Doesn't appear to have been registered with Harveys, though.
