Water Stains on Iron fireplace

I was washing a sofa and have left splatter marks all over half my cast iron fireplace. I've never really cleaned it and surprised to learn you don't use water to do so.

Any ideas how to get the water stains off the fireplace?

No idea, apart from respraying it. Which shouldn't be too hard? Obvioysly the paint would need to be suitable for heat.

What’s the finish on it? Is it shiny metal or black? You need to remove the rust then make sure it’s clean and dry. I cleaned rust off shiny cast iron using fine steel wool and liquid Brasso. Then cleaned off with a clean, lint free cloth.

Its a matt finish, looks grey, but I guess it could be black.

Looks like an efficient style gas fire. Do you have a manual for it? Is there a manufacturer name and model where the controls are? I'd contact them and ask their advise.
