Hi

I hope someone can help. We had a new boiler and water tank fitted last October our installer is currently on holiday and we are unable to contact him. We noticed on Saturday that our hot water was not heating up we have a Bosch Worcester Greenstore SC-300. We have it on a timer to come on for an hour in the morning and half an hour at night nothing has come on in terms of heating up the hot water even when we have tried to use the boost button or the emersion switch. We do know that our decorator put a radiator on and off the wall on Friday and I suspect the issue is something do with that as I know he bled it when he put it back on. I'm used to a Combi system so I am struggling with this system. I've checked the manual and there is nothing to help, I've had a good look online but there is nothing specific to answer this query. Do any of you lovely Mumsnetters have any ideas I can try please? I've attached some photos of the unit in case that helps! Thank you

if you have an electric immersion heater in the cylinder, turn it on. It will take some hours to fully heat it. For example if it is a 250 litre cylinder it will take about four hours. You may as well leave it on until the boiler is working again. The cylinder is so well insulated that heat loss is insignificant.

I can't see the head of an immersion heater in your photos, nor an immersion heater switch.

Your boiler will have a pressure gauge on the front. What does the pressure say? As a radiator was taken off, I expect it needs topping up with the filling loop. This will be in your user manual.

@PigletJohn thank you so much I will see if the emersion will kick in we did try that to be honest but it didn't - I suspect we didn't leave it on for long enough. I assume from what you say it will work regardless of the issue? The boiler (pic attached) says pressure is at 59 - sorry to ask but do I refer to the boiler user manual or the cylinder one? So far from what I have read there is nothing re topping up? Sorry to be such a Luddite Grin

59 doesn't make sense for pressure. Unless it is 0.59? Or maybe you are in a country measuring in psi?

In Europe It is usually shown in "Bar" and should be between about 1 and 2 (the manual will say).

(I see no pic)

the immersion heater is a standby, provided to heat the HW cylinder on those occasions when the boiler is not working. Electricity is more expensive than gas so it should be turned off at other times. It is entirely independent of the boiler.

You want the boiler manual.

it may be described as "repressurising" or "pressurising" and may use the words "filling loop" or "filling valve" which is likely to be under the boiler, where the thin pipes go in, and may have a metal-braided flexible hose.

pressure gauge is on the boiler not on the cylinder. (if the cylinder has one it is for hot water pressure which is not the same as boiler pressure). Incorrect boiler pressure means the boiler will not start which I think is what you have. Boiler pressure and radiator pressure are the same.

If your boiler does not have a pressure gauge it might be unvented with a small tank in the loft. This is rare with modern boilers but not impossible. I have one.
