how often do you open bifolds?

how often do you have your bifolds open all the way? I'm thinking of having ours open inward which will be up against the side of the kitchen cabinets (the doors will protrude about 15cm..) which won't be ideal but better than them sticking out perpendicular in the middle of our bleeding decking, right? and if they aren't open all the way very often...?

Everyday in this weather! So since May at least 5 days a week. I wouldn't want them inside personally

mommybear1 · 05/07/2018 17:27

We're having outside building work done at the moment so a bit restricted but in this weather they have been open every evening when the builders have gone and all day at weekends. I'd definitely recommend opening outward rather than invading your living space.

Mine open onwards because like an idiot I didn't properly consider how big my patio should be. Is my one big regret about my house. My kitchen would be much bigger if they opened outwards because you always need to keep the space. Don't do it!! And yes, all the time or as much of it as I am home!

*inwards ......

We went for the widest double doors we could, rather than bifold because of the price difference. One opens flat against the fence and the other can open all the outwards.

I really wouldn't have them opening inward, I think it might be really annoying.

Tbh, even in this hot weather, we usually just have one door open, but i don't have small kids running in and out all day.

all the time. They ned to open outwards or it will really restrict you with furniture, curtains etc.

Baxdream · 05/07/2018 17:42

Just to add I have two sets of three door bifolds. Each door is at least a metre so would make a huge amount of the kitchen unusable.

I don't have young children either but it's just lovely getting so much air in the house

I have two sets of three windows. They both open outwards.
I have them open fully at every available opportunity, I love them!

QuiteUnfitBit · 05/07/2018 17:49

We have them fully open all the time - both work from home. They open outwards. Even in the autumn, when it's getting chillier, but still sunny, we open them fully. (But I am quite outdoorsy, I think!)

Yes, ours are 4 x 1m panels so folding inside you'd need at least 1m clearance.

We had a family party in middle April and we'd had them half open a few times before then, but from that date in April we've had them open daily. I think yesterday (home working) they were open fully from about 7am to midnight!

cloudtree · 06/07/2018 08:45

Ours are also 1m panels. Ours are in a bay and I still wouldn't have them opening inwards.

We open our bifolds every day. They stack outside.

I don’t understand it when I hear people say don’t buy bifolds as you’ll hardly open them. Eh?!

We have ours open daily in nice weather.
And when it isn't quite warm enough to open all of them, we concertina them slightly, so I would definitely have them opening outwards

Neolara · 17/07/2018 18:26

We had wooden bifolds and never opened them up fully because they were tricky to maneuver. We replaced with good quality aluminium bifolds and now open them fully every day.
