Hello everyone
I just came upon this thread and notice that nobody has posted for a couple of years. Could this be the Brexit effect?! We all seem to be holding our breath to 'see what happens'!
Anyway just wanted to say if any of you are thinking of moving down here its a great place to bring up children, schools are good, very little crime, clean air - and in answer to a couple of previous threads yes we do have a Waitrose!
Times have changed since those early posts, and St Austell is no longer as you described it! It's a pleasant, although a bit impoverished , little town with a few 'essential' shops, Boots, WHS, TK Maxx, Costa etc. Good cinema too. There's an excellent library with a good childrens department, great playpark for all ages, and a newly refurbished leisure centre with olympic pool. Finally if, like me, you have to get up to London occasionally, fast train journey from 'Snozzle' is 4 hours, and daily flights from Newquay take 1 hour.
Hope this helps all of you wondering whether to make that move.
