Stacked stone backsplash practicality?

We’re going for a modern white handle less kitchen with marble quartz worktops, so I’ve been looking for a backsplash that will give it some life and texture. Saw this and think it’s beautiful, but is it practical? Our kitchen won’t be dissimilar to the one pictured (wood floors, long back with island, lots of windows, etc). Our hob is on the island, so we won’t be needing to wipe up spatters from cooking.

If you have one of these, do you like it? And how does it work installing plug sockets over top of it?
