End of tenancy/pre move clean

I'm hoping to move house soon (haven't exchanged yet though so don't want to tempt fate!!). I live in a mid terrace 3 bed, 2 bathroom 1200 square ft house in south west London. Laminate floor downstairs, tiled floors in bathroom, carpet everywhere else.

How much can I expect to pay for a top to bottom clean so that I can leave the house in a nice condition for the buyers? I know it's hard to say but - ballpark?

It's very thoughtful of you to want to leave the place so sparkly clean, but you are under no obligation to do so.(I am assuming you own the house you are vacating, if not, ignore!) I would just do the standard dust and hoover, which is the most anyone has done for me. Save your money for your new place.

Are you vacating a rental op? It is not clear to me.

I have an identical London terrace - we paid about £300 for a deep clean when we moved in. It had been rented by lots of students and it needed a good scrub before we'd have felt comfortable in it.

I sold a 3 bed terrace in London recently and paid a highly-regarded local cleaner to do it from top to bottom, it took her 10 hours & cost £200. I felt it was money well spent & the new owners were very grateful. I thought was the least I could given how much they paid!

So do you think I'm mad to clean? My DH thinks I am and clearly some of you do too!!

I just know that eg the cupboards and shelves etc will be filthy. The oven needs a clean and bathrooms will need a once over. Feel a bit bad leaving it in such that sort of state....but if you were buying, is a quick dust and hoover what you'd expect?

I got a quote for my three bedroom house - included steam cleaning carpets and curtains was £430 - Northants / Beds border if that helps.

Most buyers expect to deep clean upon moving in IME.

Just do your normal house clean, dust, hoover, wipe down bathroom and kitchen etc

Actually, what I'd have really liked is if the vendors had organised a thorough deep clean and I'd have paid for it. It's going to be a right pain to get it done now that we've got stuff everywhere. They did book and pay for cleaners, but it was a bit of a surface skim. So it might be worth asking your buyers if they want to pay for a deep clean, "otherwise I'll just make sure that it's been vacuumed and the worktops have been wiped down, clean the bath, that kind of thing - OK?"

*Sorry, that sounds like I EXPECTED the vendors to do it. I didn't, at all, it's just in retrospect, I wish I'd asked them. It would have been really convenient.

You need to clean all the cupboards, Hoover, clean all the floors, Windows, and kitchen and bathroom surfaces, toilets, window sills, skirting, etc. I would be gutted if bought a property and it wasn't immaculate on moving in. We've always left ours immaculate too.

We are paying £340 in Northants for everything; carpets, windows, fridge, cooker and the other standard stuff.

They would and frequently do by the threads I've read and my own experience. I have always left houses clean. Your sale contract documents include a provision about leaving the place clean and tidy. If you don't, you're in breach of contract. If you declutter and deep clean in stages it really isn't difficult. Then vac as rooms are emptied and cleaned bathrooms on the morning of the move.
