New kitchen with Aga

Hi lovely new Mumset friends, I’m renovating a cottage and adding a new kitchen extension so feeling very lucky. I’ve ordered a new electric aga as there’s no gas. Despite this luxury I’m trying to be as energy efficient as possible and wonder whether a separate hob would be a good idea so I don’t have to lift the lids and lower the oven temp at busy times. All suggestions welcome. It’s a lovely project and I’m hoping to include some solar panels.

It sounds lovely but I’m not sure energy saving and electric aga go together.

MIL has a gas aga and has a separate hob and two electric ovens for everyday cooking, so the aga is basically a very expensive radiator.

If the electric aga hob is anything like the gas one where you can’t control the temperature then yes I would definitely get a separate hob for everyday cooking.

Thanks BigPinkBall, I know what you mean but the newest aga lids on the electric duel control are only hot when switched on I’m told rather than being continually hot. I hope it’s not too new for Mumsnetters to have experience of. I do have time to amend.
