Question for anyone who's had granite worktops installed...

We shopped around and finally settled on a quote from a local company to supply and fit worktops for our new kitchen. The company reviews well. They've now asked for 50% of the final cost ahead of the template being drawn up. I baulked at paying so much before they've even stepped inside our home, so they then said it was fine to pay a nominal template fee, but they would still need 50% before going into production to produce the finished top. Is that normal?

Yes we did.

Yes we had to pay around 10% deposit to reserve then another 50% I think at templating. I guess that's when they're incurring the main cost.

Thanks, that's good to know!

Yes. I think it's because it's so expensive, you won't change your mind if you've paid a big deposit Grin
