Gas Safe Register question...

I booked a company to quote for a new boiler.

Two people turned up. The business owner who the business is named after and his son.
Based on the questions the son was asking I assumed he came along as was under training.

I received a quote a few days later and decided to check up on the gas safe register as something wasn't quite seeming right (No t's and c's provided, no mention of gas safe on the estimate but plastered all over the website).

Turned out that the business owner is not currently gas safe registered but the son is.

Would that concern you? Is this typical?

You'd want the work to be carried out by the son. As I understand it, only a gas Safe registered person can work on gas installations so I'd be concerned the father might do some of the work. For a definitive answer, speak to Gas Safe.

The person undertaking the work must be gas safe registered.

I work for a family run Gas Safe registered company. The boss is no longer registered as he is now office based. Most of the people doing the quoting are not registered.

All the operatives who carry out the work are registered.
