Is my newly laid sandstone ruined?

We laid out grey sandstone this weekend. I noticed last night that there were damp patches but it had been drizzling, so thought it was from that.

The patches are still there this morning 😩

We laid them on a full mortar bed, not the dap way. Are they forever stained?

Thanks.

Here’s a photo. It is mainly on one end of the patio - the side we laid first.

I haven't had this problem myself but if you google patches on sandstone you'll find it's quite common.
One site says it's minerals and they will eventually disappear. I haven't read the others but I hope it's reassuring for you.

Put a spirit level on it. Does it tip down on that side? Could the moisture underneath be pooling down at that end?

Thanks both. The patio slopes to the grass area (away from the house).

Thankfully it looks like it was the drizzle that we had as the patches seem to be shrinking. Looks like it was just rainwater haha.

The only problem now is not all the slabs have stuck down 😩 We did everything by the book and my dad is a v competent DIYer so we have no idea where we went wrong.
