Alternatives to juliette balcony?

Can't afford it and to be honest aren't even keen on them. Would prefer a window with window seat but don't think they'll be enough light. Any alternatives that others have used?

Floor to ceiling window?

One negative for a Juliet balcony is ventilation. A security risk leaving the doors open. Also if it rains your floor gets wet!

Long window down to about knee height. Bottom section fixed toughened glass (there are regs about that), upper section(s) with openers.
