Kitchen and tiles - where to begin!

Any ideas how much a small-ish kitchen would take to re-do? Brand suggestions of a good quality classic look kitchen would be a good start. We are clueless and I don’t know where to start. I’ve found Harvey Jones kitchens online but some googling tells me that they are quite expensive sometimes?

Also tiles - is there a ‘go to’ retailer?!

Any words of wisdom are welcome!

Don’t go for loads of tiles. Just for the back of the hob but even then it’s not vital. Granite work surface with a granite up stand is fine. Look at a magazine such a KBB (Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom). They have loads of ideas at all sorts of prices. You can buy back numbers and get kitchen manufacturers in a directory. There are companies like Second Nature, Neptune, DeVol and Cotteswood that you might like to look at. Neptune Limehouse floats my boat at the moment!

DIY Kitchens are well worth a look. We are really pleased with our kitchen from them and saved a fortune compared to a quote we had.

Tiles - try Wallsandfloors, tonsoftiles and tilemountain online. You can get samples from all of them. If you find something you like by a manufacturer like Johnson's, you can buy direct from them and could save money that way.

If the carcasses of your kitchen units are solid but it's just the doors that date, then consider just replacing the doors & work surfaces along with the tiles.

Hi! Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately it’s a new-ish kitchen that’s been previously done very cheaply and the cupboards appear to be bowing, doors looking untidy, etc.

I’ll definitely look up the brands and magazine for ideas thanks for tip.

I was thinking tiles for the floor rather than the wall. I wasn’t sure what people did here with flooring in kitchens/bathrooms (not from the U.K. originally).
