Anyone know about the Preston area?

I am trying to choose between three properties, one in Cabus (near Garstang), one in Cottam (Preston), and one in Farington Moss (Leyland). Any advice or info on these areas? I checked Lancashire local but it seemed like no one was there...

Cabus is the nicest. It'll be a pleasant country village and there's quite a bit round there. Garstang is lovely.

Cottam is OK but there's really not much up there; it's all housing estates and there's a lot of building going on.

I'd say no to Leyland.

Depends what you like doing and where you are working. Pm me if want more info on farington moss and why we chose there if you like

I've lived in or near Garstang all my life. It's a lovely market town with great primary schools, a good high school and excellent secondary schools accessible in Lancaster. Cabus is more like an area of Garstang than a village in it's own right (most of Cabus is 5-10 mins walk from Garstang High St).
I'd say Cottam was a suburb of Preston, with lots of new build housing estates. Not sure what Farington Moss is like but Leyland isn't great in my opinion. Better for access to Manchester though.

I would say they are all different. Cabus near Garstang is a village near a smaller town. Cottam is predominantly an area of new build to the north of Preston. Farington Moss is near Leyland to the south of Preston. Depends where exactly it is but Farington Moss is a small village near Leyland which is a town to the south of Preston. All different set ups and would depend on exact location. Where do you need to be able to get to? If you need to go south to Liverpool/Manchester then Farington may be a better choice. Do you want village life near Garstang which is a lovely market town or do you want new build either north side or south side of Preston. What style of property are you after? Have you discounted Chorley/Buckshaw area if you need to commute by train/motorway southwards?
