Mold

I have a mold problem on my bedroom wall that only comes in the winter. During the summer months it doesn't grow at all.

I've washed the walls with bleach a hundred times. I've used mold resistant paint on it too. It doesn't work.

Any ideas on how I can permently get rid of this mold??

It’s probably a cold spot in your house where damp air is drawn. You probably better ventilate your home by opening windows in the summer. Do what you can to keep moisture levels down in kitchens and bathrooms (use the extractor fans, doors closed windows ajar, lids on pans etc)

A dehumidifier might help as will ventilating as pp said.

Bleached ours plenty of times still comes back. Dehumidifier seems to make the biggest difference.

Thanks for replies. I bought a small dehumidifier so hoping it helps but won't know untill winter comes.

No. You need to remove the moisture.

Is it likr a mini one atound the £30 mark?i found that did nothing really but the big one we have works a treat.

I havent tried damp paint but do intend to when we get round to it. Need to give the ceiling a good clean and paint just annoying as we rent and really dont think it is our fault there is damp.

We air the house daily. Use a condenser drier and use the extractor fan when cooking with lids on pans etc so doing everything we can to help.

@dboo yes it's a €30 dehumidifier. Ill look into getting a bigger/better one.

We rent as well and I've complained to the landlord but have been fobbed off. Don't want to move because we love the area and besides this mold in one corner of the bedroom the house is great. Hoping all these suggestions will help me fix it myself.

A desicating dehumidifier is best because it adds heat into the room too

If i remember i will have a look at the brand we have tonught. Our landlord actually paid for ours.

Be wary of furniture up against walls etc. Prior to this place our other rental was damp and damaged all of our furniture. Which we replaced and is now bloody damaged again.

Ours is an ebac15 if that helps.

To help aesthetically, I highly recommend B&Q HG mould spray. Amazing stuff!
