Reupholstering a chair

Found this yesterday, a side of the road freebie.

Any advice on how to reupholster it? I'm the least practical, least creative person I know.

Oooh! Nice!!! You tube is your friend...

You tube and a book and some tools. Do the springs/webbing feel ok or does it need work on that too? Might be worth seeing if there's a local evening/short class.

It's springs and they seem okay.

I'll want to paint the wood as well.

Thanks @Mybabystolemysanity I'm feeling very lucky. I've been on the lookout for a chair just that size.

Resurrecting this thread as I'm finally getting around to doing this chair. I'm choosing a paint for the legs/frame. Does anyone have any experience with Anne Sloan paints? I bought the English Yellow but think that could look too gimmicky. Now leaning towards Paris Grey.

Have you looked at Autentico paint? They are my favourite brand at the moment for painting furniture.

The nearest stockist is 150 mile away sadly, and I'd really like to get this done this week while I've got some time off.

Oh that is annoying. Don't fall for them selling you the AS brushes either, they are nice and all but you can get them much cheaper in Wilko etc (if you feel you need special furniture painting brushes), normal ones will give just as good a finish.
