mural on balcony wall - paint and finish

we have a plain (but rough textured) balcony wall. I'd like to paint a mural type thing on it, but not sure what kind of paint I need to choose and what to select as a finish. It's a kind of enclosed balcony, but in heavy sideways rain, the wall does get wet.

any thoughts? thanks. I have not done a large scale painting on a rough wall before! Smile

Masonry paint is the obvious choice, but would probably work out expensive to use several colours. Graffiti artists use car paint sprays. Rustoleum have a range of paints you can use inside and out, you could try those? Bear in mind that if you go off it or it weathers then your only option is to paint over it so if it's brickwork rather than a rendered wall, you're committed to having a painted wall.

If you're in a flat does the lease permit you to paint the balcony wall? Best to check first, especially as your mural will affect how the whole building looks. You might have to use marine ply as a canvas and hang your mural instead.

Thanks for the Rustoleum suggestion

I'm not sure I'm skilled with a can of spray paint though....

It's not brick work no.

You could use acrylics with a topcoat or varnish to protect it.
