Positive house buying stories

I'm just about to make an offer on a new house and am stressing about all the places where the process can fall apart.

Does anyone have any positive house buying stories?

I feel like I'm always hearing about purchases that go tits up and need to hear some where everything went (sort of) to plan!!

Has anyone bought a house and it been relatively painless???

My last one was lovely and easy. House came back on the market after another sale fell through. We viewed and was obvious vendors had already checked out as everything was packed and they had already found their next house. We made a very low offer which to our shock was accepted (we genuinely thought they'd turn it down).

A fabulous solicitor, the fact that there was no chain above or below and that we were all motivated to get it done ASAP really helped. We exchanged 8 weeks later and completed shortly afterwards. Very smooth and easy and no holdups. It also helped that as there had already been a sale that all documents were already with their solicitor.

We've been here a year now and I love it so much. I cannot tell you how glad I am that that first sale fell through.

Ours took longer than necessary but we got there in the end. No one in our chain changed their minds or pulled out, there was no gazumping or gazundering. We even exchanged and completed on the same day. Our movers showed up on time, and the new house was left nice and clean with flowers, a card, and a bottle of wine.

Don't get me wrong, I think the house buying process in England is stupid and don't want to go through it again. But we got through it unscathed and love our new house.

We only spent one week looking at houses and only saw this one once, but it's all ended up fine.

My house was amazingly fast. 27 days from offer to completion. Our solicitor was absolutely on the ball, and my DH spoke with him near enough every day.

We were FTBers and the couple moving out we’re moving in with their daughter until their new house was ready. There was a small issue with the planning of the garage (done before planning was required), but the vendors produced the documents quickly and we both agreed to go halves on an indemnity policy costing around £250 each.

The EA thanked us on completion day for being the easiest set of buyers they’d ever had, and the vendors left us a card and wine when we moved in.

You’ll always hear horror stories because they’re the people who (need to!) shout the loudest and that’s fair enough. Some vendors are arseholes, and some buyers are too. But not everyone. Good luck OP.

Mine took longer than expected but that is because neither side was really rushing it through.

No issues on conveyancing. No issues at all really. Until I moved in and realised the bathroom needed ripping out and found loads of leaks.. .hey ho thems the breaks!
