Can I put up a bathroom cabinet over existing shaver socket? (See pic)

Is there any reason we can’t put up a bathroom cabinet over an existing shaver socket and use the socket inside the cabinet?

Kids always forgetting to charge toothbrushes and they look messy perched on top of sink so I was thinking we could cut hole in back of cabinet, put it up over the socket and keep toothbrush charger plugged in inside with brush on when needs charging?

Any reason that wouldn’t be a good idea?

I can't see why not, but I literally have no clue about DIY/electrics etc!

None at all, but bear in mind that if it is used to plug in a shaver, the person shaving needs to be able to see what they're doing in a mirror. Will they be able to do so with the cabinet door open?

I’m currently installing one in a vanity unit ... well the unit is stone and has an access panel in the back ... so the shaver socket will be flush in the wall but located at the rear of the unit. Perfect for a water pick and toothbrush.

They actually sell cabinets with inbuilt shaver sockets - I think yours will be the cheaper option. And I’m going to do that myself! Thanks for the good idea!

Just be mindful of the wire which feeds the socket when fixing the cabinet!

Yes! ours is 😊

Sounds like it wasn’t a bad idea then Smile Good point about the wires rslsys.
Toothbrushes are tall so may need to lose the shelf in the cabinet but worth that to be able to hide brushes and charger away. Nobody uses it for shaving!

I’m assuming there are 2 of you sharing a charger. I’m intending getting 2 points fitted. We’re currently all sharing one which is on a side table outside the bathroom!
