Bloody cats destroying carpet- need an alternative

Our cat has destroyed our living room and stairs carpet. The stairs go off the living room so we need to replace them both with the same thing (1984 build). Save for sitting on the stairs 24/7 with a water squirted, we are going to have to replace it. She’s a menace who scratches the carpet next to the scratchers we put down for her. We’ve had 3 carpets that she has destroyed over the years (in different houses).

We are now thinking of an alternative. I’m thinking solid LVT (although can’t find one that actually goes over stairs) or even laminate. My mother says we are mad, that solid floors are “dangerous” if you fall down the stairs.

Has anybody got any decent reasonably priced suggestions/ alternatives/ ideas? TIA

You can have wooden stairs and then do a paint effect to wind up your cat?

We had engineered wood flooring downstairs in our last house. The Toddler regularly bounced down the stairs and survived.

Watching with interest. Our cats have destroyed the stairs carpet and I'm loathe to replace it for them to do it again...

Ours did this so we sprayed the carpets with carpet cleaner to get rid of their scent. Fingers crossed it’s worked so far!

Don't know what to suggest other than wood or tiles, our cat has clawed up most of the carpets and ruined every single blind in this house. He's a fucking pita but I luvves him.

NavyO- can I ask which brand? Was it difficult to fit?
