Crucial Trading carpet. Is it cheaper under another brand name

I had a really upsetting day yesterday. I had ordered 2 carpets on estate agent floor plan measurements and one was too small. The one for our bedroom was 600 quid.

Carpet fitted had put underlay in the spare room first. He was cross that I had ordered the wrong size underlay and so hadn't brought enough for both rooms. He then insisted on laying my expensive carpet in the spare room. I was just so shocked and it happened so quickly I let him do it. I actually felt a bit traumatised! I think I was still processing how much money I had wasted on the wrong carpet.

Anyhow, he started telling me that Crucial Trading is available under another name at a third of the price! He said he could get it for me to do my bedroom.

So on one hand I want to recoup some of what I wasted by getting the carpet cheaper. On the other hand, he was a total arise and I don;t want him back. He is fitting some vinyl next week though!

I wonder if this is true about getting the same thing cheaper Or does he just means it looks like Crucial Trading?

He was an arse, not an arise. Maybe I could say "Arise, Sir Arse " to him.

Why on earth did ypu order of an estste agent's floor plan?!

I can see why he was annoyed. He is no doubt self employed and wont have been paid to fit the non-fitting carpet

I think he was being quite kind and trying to help you out with offering to source a properly fitting carpet more cheaply

Where did you buy it from? Just buying my carpet (not crucial trading) online saved me so much money vs. John Lewis and local carpet shops.

And Flowers for your measuring mishap. I measured up myself and was so worried about getting it wrong.

And just finally to say that I used a company called onlinecarpets.co.uk (not the most original name!)

I have bought it on line, as off cuts. Designer carpets and they are great. And much cheaper.

I had to have the carpets fitted before the furniture went in. As I said I mucked up. He did get paid for the room he didn't fit, as well as the underlay he didn't lay!

I got it on line, but it was still expensive! Thanks for the flowers, I hate wasting money...
