Live in a terrace. Next door man is a bit grumpy he lives alone as do I so I have to deal with him
Anyway rainwater is coming into my hall and stairs upstairs causing damp and mould
My builder had a good look and the leak is from mr next door’s broken roof tiles - no idea if he’s got damp too We both own our houses as far as I know
Except neighbour won’t engage He’s not interested in fixing it
Any ideas what I can do ? Who to speak to to make him get it sorted?

I would just offer to get the small which is effecting yours patched if he won't engage. Surely he can't complain about free roof maintenance. I wouldn't have thought it would cost much and it will stop your house getting damaged more. There might be some sort of way to claim on your house insurance for it?

It depends on the extent of the damage to his tiles. A few cracked tiles are very easily pulled out and replaced. However, if on removing damaged tiles the wooden batons underneath are rotted etc ....this is a much bigger undertaking.
Personally I would not tamper with another persons property with a barge pole. Far safer to stick your concerns in a note to him stating the ingress is coming from his side and he must make repairs or else you will have to take action. You may have to speak to a solicitor about this. Be sure of your facts first and ensure the leak is really from his side. Ideally, just talk to the guy. Find a contractor and make it easy for him.
