Meadow Well - North Shields

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows the Meadow Well area of North Shields? I've been looking at a few properties around there recently, and they all seem really nice - in a quiet new-build estate, close to all amenities, really reasonably priced etc. However, I don't really know the area at all as I've only just moved to the North East a few months ago. Is it a relatively safe area? Would love any feedback that people might have, thanks!

I would look more at Benton, Longbenton, Forest Hall or Killingworth, some lovely properties and all near amenities with good links to the city.

Or this in Whitley Bay? It needs some updating but looks perfectly liveable, you're near great schools and in a good area - with some work it could turn out to be a good investment too.

You would get lots more for your money in South Shields.

You can get houses in coxlodge around that price (and send your children to the Gosforth schools - if you have children). It’s near Wandsbeck Road metro station.

Whitburn is nice!

Or jarrow. This is within walking distance of a metro station.

So, are most places south of the river fine?

Thank you for all the links! I rang to arrange a viewing for the Coxlodge one but the vendor has just accepted an offer today, grr!

Will continue the search - luckily I'm in no rush to move, so will just keep viewing until the right place comes up.

I would avoid it as I remember those riots well!
Shiremoor is ok certainly preferable to Meadow Well and great for metro. Have you looked at Wellfield at all? Am thinking the end closer to Shiremoor would be cheaper but no longer live in the area so unsure on house prices....

Killingworth is well served by buses into the centre. Shiremoor is ok too, I used to work there. And it has the metro. The one someone posted above in High Heaton is near me. That estate is a quiet one and I have a friend near there. Quite close to the main road but that also means loads of buses into town from right on your doorstep.
