moving out for rewiring?

If you've had your home totally rewired, did you need to move out of your house whilst it was being done?

No. We just put up with it.

No.

We did because friends let us house sit it was quicker and better for the electrician especially as we had ground floor concrete so wiring all had to come down from the 1st floor!

We had pre-schoolers so meant he didn't have to pack away tools, get electricity up and running every day etc. Cats were quite keen on him by the end...

My mum and dad didn't.

Though they did have to pay more on account of all the stuff he had to move.

Had a 1 year old - so, yes. Moved in with my parents, who lived nearby, for a few days.
Even as a "lay person" I thought the mess was much worse than it should have been. Spoke to supervisor - who advised me that it was the first time the tradesmen had worked together .
On a different subject, but still relevant, whether you move out or not, ensure your valuables are secure. Had a really nasty theft, by a tradesman, just over a year ago.

We stayed elsewhere leaving all our stuff in the house (everything in cupboards or boxed up). I'm really glad we did overall.

I would actually recommend you use your own dust sheets as the dust gets everywhere and then some. The electrician claimed he'd spent the last day cleaning but it didn't look like it. We were prepared for dust but not bits of wire and stuff on the floor, though ours was a messy worker.

Our old dog had quite a serious love affair going on with the electrician. Was like his favourite human on the entire planet for some strange reason!
