Probably needs a diagram...so apologies in advance. I live in a central london one bed flat. No one with kids is ever likely to buy it. I'm planning to be here for at least another 10years.

Currently my bathroom (270cm x 225cm) has a standard sized bath and small 80cm shower cubicle along the long wall. The bathroom is tired and needs updated . My initial thoughts were to replace the bath with a smaller one (150cm) and put in a bigger (120cm) shower cubicle alongside it.

Both bathroom designers I've spoken to so far have advocated totally removing the bath and putting in a huge walk in shower (at least 140cm).

Thoughts on having a shower room only appreciated.

I've used the bath once in 2 years and that was only really to check it worked! I lived in my previous flat for 2 years and never had a bath.

Normally I'd be nervous of taking a bath out completely but the market and the time you're staying both say "usual" rules need not apply.

The 150cm bath sounds like a bit of a compromise really. How about a large shower and a japanese sitting bath?

Personally I'd favour a P shaped bath but a large shower is probably more current.

Don't bother with a small bath - I love a bath and small ones are pointless.

If you like a shower and it's not a place for kids, have a lovely shower put in.

God yes get the massive shower. You could even get 2 shower heads in there. Especially in a 1 bed flat in central London people won't miss a bath.

Shower! Baths just get dusty!

Just go shower. We have just had our bathroom done and had a similar predicament due to space.
We actually laid it all out in the garden to see what some there would be between the bath, shower cubicle, toilet etc and decided we'd have to compromise for a smaller bath for it to be manageable. After thinking it over we decided we didn't want a small bath and small cubicle so decided to have a large walk in shower instead. We have a 3 year old but he is happy in a shower and we never used the bath. We also aren't planning on moving at all/until the kids are grown so haven't worried about resale value.
Go for a shower only. Best thing we ever did. Pic attached is mg new bathroom because I luvs it. Smile
