We bought timber windows and a large set of French doors from Privett Windows Ltd. Unfortunately none of the top openers had the multi-point locking agreed in the contract. All attempts by us to get Privett to rectify the matter failed, so we reluctantly turned to a solicitor to help us out. His communications also failed to receive the desired result. Having an expert witness view the windows and write a report, Privett then agreed to a Contract of Compromise, stating that they would replace the faulty parts of the windows. They then breached this contract too. We ended up in County Court where we received judgement for the cost of replacing all the Privett units. They failed to pay the amount determined by the Court. We obtained a High Court Enforcement. Only then did we find out that Privett Windows Ltd has no assets whatsoever. It leases all assets from Privett Timber Windows Ltd. There is now also another company called Privett Timber Windows Installations Ltd. You must draw your own conclusions, but it would be advisable to consider VERY carefully before buying from Privett Windows Ltd. Is this common do you think?
