Howdens wood effect laminate worktops?

Hi, I'm going to have a look at these in oak block square edge, laminate. Has anyone got laminate wood worktops from howdens? What do you think?

Yes, I put a Howdens oak-look one in our rental flat which we renovated to a very good standard. Units were Burford cream IIRC - it was over 6 years ago and still looks extremely nice. That kitchen is a good deal nicer than my own ancient one!

Found that a niece had exactly the same in her new kitchen extension - also looks lovely.

Some people can be rather sniffy about laminate but it's very practical, and many of them look very nice. Dd has similar though not Howdens in her new kitchen and is very happy with it.

We have them in our kitchen, love them. Would recommend them.

We've also just got the textured oak put in (with Fairford White units). Can't share a pic as not there at the moment but really pleased with the look. It's also a slightly cooler tone than the other Howden oak-effects which suited the look we wanted.

Brilliant-a cooler tone is exactly what we want. Thank you all, massive help and reassurance

Everyone thinks our Howdens "wood" worktops are real until I tell them they're not and they inspect them.

We’ve got a Howdens kitchen (white shaker with a grain effect) then the Benchmarx oak effect canyon work surface. It looks bloody ace! No one believes it’s fake until they really look at it. It’s super hard wearing and and very low maintenance. I love it.

My friend recently did her kitchen and went for (eye wateringly) expensive real oak. They are beautiful buuuut......there are loads of marks already and it’s not the kind of kitchen where these make it look ‘characterful’ iyswim.

BellMcEnd · 18/05/2018 06:38

(In fact when I went to look at the worksurface in the show room I thought the salesman had made a mistake and brought me out the real oak rather than the fake oak).

I think that some of the ‘snobbery’ over laminate comes from when it really did look a bit plasticky. The technology’s moved on massively.

Ah thanks everyone for taking the trouble to read and comment. Was in a bit of a flap as thought I had made my choice from b and q but joiner said 3m length was too short and to look at howdens so it's all felt a bit last minute. Going to look at howdens tomorrow. Thanks again

Good to read. Just having Howdens American pecan worktops put in. They look lovely must admit.

Bluesheep8 · 19/05/2018 16:38

4mogirl are yours the oak block ones please? These are the ones we're having as the oak ones only come in 3m lengths....
