Little Greene paint worth the £££s?

Is it worth the Shock cost??? I keep on reading how it's a great quality paint and that the intelligent matt can be scrubbed. Is it worth the £££s? I quite like a Crown colour but would that not be as durable? We have two children. Thank you!

Hi it’s ok, better than F&B but I didn’t find it really scrubable you can wipe it down though, Dulux diamond matt is very good.
If you want a premium paint, Mylands marble matt is really good, it has crushed marble in it, so very tough & it’s very thick goes a long way & covers well.

Where do you buy Mylands from do you mind me asking dontcall? Can you get colours mixed? Thank you!

We've just redone our hallway/stairs with Zoffany Elite Emulsion - it's very washable and doesn't seem to show any of the marks than the matt version used to. We're doing our living room next and have bought the same finish.

I used the eggshell ok woodwork and loved it. Pricey but very easy to paint with.

dontcallmelen · 14/05/2018 21:08

@lolalotta you can get Mylands from brewers who have decorating shops all over the country, If you google brewers you can see if any near you, you can also buy direct from Mylands if you go on the Mylands website you can request a colour card & also buy samples.
It’s lovely paint, I’m always banging on about here, it’s made in the uk by a family firm, it’s just not that well known & doesn’t help that it’s not sold in the big diy stores.

I've recently used Mylands matt for the first time and it's very good - you can by it online direct from them or you might have local stockist. I don't know if you can get colours mixed but they had exactly the shade I was looking for which was one of the reasons I bought it. The coverage and depth of colour is fantastic.

I also think Little Greene is worth the money but Mylands might just have the edge!

dontcallmelen · 14/05/2018 21:21

@lakeswimmer at last someone who knows what I’m on about😃I bloody love the stuff I painted my kitchen cupboards in the satin eggshell about four years ago & still looks like new.
It really annoys me that F&B get all the praise, when we have a paint that’s manufactured here in the uk by a family run company, customer service is also brilliant, disclaimer I don’t work for them.

lakeswimmer · 14/05/2018 22:02

dontcallmelen I agree about F&B - they have some lovely colours and great marketing but for a similar price LG and Mylands are definitely better Grin

I’ve used little greene on my kitchen cupboards and I really rate it. It really is good quality paint.

dontcallmelen · 14/05/2018 22:17

I used littlegreene on my cupboards, it fared a lot better than the F&B which flaked & chipped but it did yellow quite a bit, it was the white linen colour I think, the Mylands has really stood the test & has a really smooth finish.

If you like a Crown colour, they do a trade scrubbable paint called Extreme Clean Scrubbable Matt. They sell it in Brewers

I love Mylands, used it on most rooms, however had a problem with my last order, complete nightmare. Placed order, accepted, delivery date confirmed, decorator booked, paint didn't arrive , called them and they said sorry, they didn't have any at the moment and didn't have the pigment to make any, would be at least 10-14 days....so why the bloody hell didn't they tell me in the 2 previous calls I had made to them that week.....had to get an alternative f & b as at least I could go and buy some locally.

Still love Mylands, but next time will be sure to leave enough lead time 😔😕

dontcallmelen · 15/05/2018 18:41

@ginandtonicdontmidifido oh no that wasn’t good, usually they are really good to deal with, I bloody love Mylands I’m always campaigning for them on MN.
Love your user name, it my family’s nickname for me😄

I used Little Greene on my front door three years ago. It still looks like it was done yesterday. Have also used them for my kitchen and it's wiped down without bother. I love that it doesn't smell as strongly as other paints. Will definitely be using them again.

whitemarble · 15/05/2018 23:37

Yes definitely, I used to be an F&B fan until I discovered little Greene, the paint goes on beautifully and the colours are lovely. I compared some testers of F&B and Little Greene recently as really liked the F&B colour but the way the paint went on and the finish was far inferior to little Greene.
