Help! Belfast sink and thick wood work top recommendations please!

I have moved house this week, and part of the kitchen needs attention asap! The builder starts on Wednesday so I have very little time to research!

I want a good quality but not too expensive sink and taps, and a thick wooden worktop. Where should I look? I also need taps.

I will do the rest of the kitchen next year, but I am aiming for a real farmhouse look.

Thanks!

I've recently installed a Dromsjo sink and 38mm oak worktop both from Ikea - very pleased with both.

The Ikea Dromsjo sink is a classic and always looks good. www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/kitchen-products/kitchen-taps-sinks/domsj%C3%B6-onset-sink-2-bowls-white-spr-49158174/

If you are after a single Belfast, this one from RAK ceramics is less than £140 on Amazon and is good quality too.

If you are looking for an idea of the different styles of sink available this is a useful summary. sinkadvice.co.uk/choosing-a-style/4594101852

No idea other than Ikea for the worktop. I usually source them locally if I need one and get the carpenter to fit it.

Worktop Express are highly rated for wooden worktops

We had a wooden worktop around our Belfast sink in our old house and I would not recommend it - you have to be super vigilant about keeping the wood dry and treating it. We have a composite worktop in our new place and it it is much easier to keep clean.

I would never have wood again. It’s such a pain to avoid staining. Composite or granite are way better?

PonderLand · 15/05/2018 17:16

We got caramel bamboo worktops from worktops express. They arrived on time and the delivery guy was really helpful. Had them in a year now and still love them

I have a Belfast sink and wooden worktop and I really really really wouldn't recommend it. The wood gets rotten if you don't keep on top of treating the wood all of the time. The rest of the worktops in the kitchen are granite, and I wish that they would have done the sink surround in granite too.

Another here with the Belfast sink and wooden worktops, never ever again, even if you paid me.

The are a pain to keep looking good, the sanding and deep oiling twice a year. Having it around the taps is particularly bad as even the least little build up of water turns the well oiled wood black and its a near impossible task to get rid, believe me I have tried everything.

Cannot wait to get rid.

Ditto. Was so glad to replace a Belfast sink and wood wotktop with steel and laminate because the former looked bloody awful and there was no way to rectify it.
