could I have a radiator inside the chimney breast?

Please excuse the picture.

We have a chimney breast in this room and the old fireplace was removed right back to the exposed brick.

The current position of the radiator is impractical and I would love the heat source to be inside the chimney breast where nature intended.

It's not suitable for an open fire and my preferred solution is a freestanding radiator inside the void. Does such a thing exist?

An electric stove would look good.

Hmm, it would, wouldn't it?

wondering about efficiency, etc....

The heat would go up the chimney wouldn't it?

can they design them so it somehow projects outwards?

I think it would look a bit odd to have a radiator in the chimney breast. I would either block up the chimney and have the radiator on the new wall or have an electric stove as suggested above which would look nice.

Yes. The heat will all go up the chimney and there is probably a stone/concrete hearth which would make it difficult to put the pipework in too.

Just spotted you said freestanding. Ignore the pipes bit.
