Wired in smoke detector beeping periodically confused

Detectors all wired in during a recent loft conversion. Have hoovered any dust out, replaced the back up battery. DH even ‘swapped’ two of the detectors around last night (so that the beeping would be further away from our bedroom), but the ‘swapped’ detector near our bedroom continued the beeping? And we now have six of them sitting in front of us and one is still beeping somewhere, but seems like the beep is moving on to the next detector each time we remove one? Any ideas before my light sleeping husband runs away from home.

Ours have back up batteries so it could be that one needs replacing?

Mine beeps every time the back up battery is low. But you say you've already changed the battery?

Is there a user manual you can lookup?

StealthPolarBear · 09/05/2018 21:28

Ours did this. I think it needed a damn good hoover

Knittedfairies · 09/05/2018 21:35

Is there a reset button?

BrownTurkey · 09/05/2018 21:36

[embarrassed] [embarrassed] erm sorry for starting this thread and thank you for taking the time to respond - it turns out it is the carbon monoxide detector in dds room (not wired in, battery replaced and all is well with the world). Sorry!

A aargh do you know that was exactly the same as us, I can't believe I forgot this. Dh took the th ing apart, took the insides out, smashed it with a hammer and... Then we realised it was the CO detector too! Can't believe I forgot!

LeeLooDallasMultiPass · 10/05/2018 06:13

Happened to us too.

Replaced the battery in the one downstairs as that was where the beep was coming from, but no, it was the carbon monoxide detector Grin

Mamaryllis · 10/05/2018 06:15

Lol spb I thought I was the only one to take a hammer to the fucking smoke alarm in desperation Grin

LiteraryDevil · 10/05/2018 07:11

It will start beeping more frequently until you replace the battery as they have battery back up.
