How would you improve a concrete path (a bit like the one in the photo)
I'm thinking maybe overlay it with thin paving slabs?
I can't break it up and start again so I need a relatively easy solution I can DIY myself

You could do that - leave a narrow border either side of the slabs and fill with coarse gravel so you're not raising the ground level above any damp course. I did something similar to create a patio on an old shed base.

I’d plant thyme and other low growing, spreading plants and make it beautiful.

Meant to say in the cracks! If you post on Gardening you’ll get lots of practical suggestions.

I used the Ikea runnen in acacia to cover a concrete garage base, they wood has faded as you would expect but quick and easy to lay. Have been in place around 3 years.

Ah brill i will venture into gardening. I wasn't sure whether to post there or not it seemed much more o f a plant place which is something which currently is very much out of my depth!
I will have lots more gardening questions upcoming though as I now have my own garden!
