What is this gap? Is this normal? How do i fix it. Confused. I already own a pax wardrobe where the doors fit close fine but these hinges look different. I think they're soft closing.

TIA

Is that a new door on an old wardrobe? They changed the spacing on the pax wardrobes - we have a few a d they are not all the same. You may need to use different hinges?

Phase84 · 06/05/2018 20:06

No it's all brand new. Even designed it all with the woman on her pc at IKEA so I would have thought it would all fit.

I feel like I’ve had this happen before when I was using the wrong hinges in the wrong place. Maybe verify that they are the correct part number?

I think they gave you the wrong hinges...here is a pic of mine

@Cakes123i thought that but checked online and the Komplement hingws online for PAX are the same ones we have.

We've gone wrong somewhere and i cant fine any tutorials online for the hinges we have.

Unclick the hinges off the actual bracket (if that makes sense)

You've clicked it on in the wrong place.

Humptynumpty02 · 06/05/2018 22:49

Doesn't look like you've connected it to the bracket properly, there should be a quick release catch at the back (left hand side) of that hinge, remove the door and start again. It may be easier to remove the door from the other bracket first, get the hibge sorted then reattach the door.

WidowTwonky · 06/05/2018 23:20

Think you’ve put the screws through the wrong holes. You need to use the holes to the right in the hinge instead

Did you manage to fix this in the end?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I just noticed someone commented that Pax doors/hinges have changed? We're just about to replace our old Pax with a new one, but thought we'd reuse the mirrored doors off the old wardrobe, as they're expensive. Does anyone know if old doors (bought +/- 10 years ago) would still fit a new Pax carcass? I was hoping we could fit the soft close hinges to the old doors too....

Phase84 · 07/05/2018 19:21

Fixed it!!!! My partner had placed all the hinges on the wardrobe frame upside down! Swapped them all the right way round and fits flush now although one door slightly higher than another which we will piss about with fix later.

@amyboo i have a pax wardrobe that is 7 years old and the hinges are different but i think the new ones might fit so you could keep the doors. The old and and new wardrobes seem to be exactly the same size as each other.

@amyboo exactly the same issue here (continuing the hi-jack), not really fancying making a 14yo Pax Wardrobe that's creaked when moved around the room a few times try to survive a house move, but thinking of doing a deal with my buyer and leaving the carcass and taking the nice doors which match other furniture we're taking.

Measurements all seem the same, did yours work out?

amyboo · 23/10/2018 06:30

@purpleman Yes we reused our Vikdal mirrored doors (bought about 10 years ago) on some new Pax bleached oak carcasses and they were fine. The new doors have 4 hinges, whereas the old ones only have 3 but you don't see any difference from the outside :-)

amyboo · 23/10/2018 06:31

Oh yes, and just to add, we also added soft close hinges to the old doors without any problems - we just had a couple left over as they only come in packs of 4 now....

purpleman · 23/10/2018 07:53

Thanks @amyboo
Still slightly confused as images such as in the Pax planner still show 3 hinges, if it's changed to 4 I'm not sure if there would be a problem matching new doors to old carcass for my buyer, or old doors to new carcass for us.

Looking again some have 3 and some have 4 hinges, perhaps just some careful shopping needed!Smile

amyboo · 23/10/2018 07:58

Honestly, there isn't a problem with either 3 or 4 hinges. Both the new wooden doors we bought and the 1 new Vikdal mirrored door we bought have 4 hinges. But, as there are holes all the way down for the shelves, etc, it's not a problem whether you have 3 or 4 hinges... The only issue I had was trying to match up my shelving inside the wardrobe so that it didn't get in the way of the hinges. But, that would have been fine if I'd hung the doors before doing the inside fittings :-)

Thanks so much @amyboo :)
