Are Origin the best ones to go for? Someone else?

Any other advice/tips? I need just over 3 metres.

Thank you

Hi, we went for Schuco over Origin. Both were extremely similar but the Schuco frame is slightly stronger and can cope with a larger glass width than the Origin. The origin required 4 panels for a 3.2m width where as Schuco could provide this with 3 panels resulting in more glass and less frame.

The price was identical.

We bought ours from Bifold Door Factory in Uxbridge in case you are in the South East.

Oh lovely, thanks roses. I am hoping for 3 panels too so it sounds like Schuco might be the way to go. Could I ask what you paid?

Go sliding doors, less panes so more unobstructed views. We are waiting for delivery of just over 6m run split into 2 panes.

That sounds amazing Humpty!

I've thought about sliding doors but it's a narrow opening and the doors would be in the way. They would be blocking either the view from the dining table or the route into the kitchen.

Hi, it was £4,100 for a triple glazed Schuco door 3.6m wide x 2.3m tall. This was in Jan 2016 from www.bifolddoorfactory.co.uk/

Do Schuco do folding and sliding? We have two openings in our planned extension. One will suit sliding and one will be better for a small bifold option. Was thinking a mix would look a bit weird if from two different manufacturers.

I'm not sure about Schuco (I think they do have a sliding option). Origin definitely had matching sliding, Bifold and windows / skylights.

NovichoksAway · 06/05/2018 20:25

Thanks, will have a look at Origin.

We're looking at doing the same Numpty for that very reason. Can I ask where you sourced yours? We only need 3.5m.

Humptynumpty02 · 07/05/2018 20:21

We've gone for Dutemann Glide-S sliding doors sourced through our local window supply company, the engineering is superb and the cost was far less than Origin doors (we are having Origin windows put in, all colour matched).

Origin do 1.2m wide doors so for a 3.6m gap it would be 3 doors. Our bifold doors are Origin but our gap is 4m so we went for 4x1m doors. Shucho & Origin are pretty much the leaders.

didireallysaythat · 09/05/2018 21:41

We have origin - preferred their handles and integral blinds (best things ever).

SingleMinded · 09/05/2018 21:51

Humpty, how much did you pay for yours if you don't mind my asking? We're looking at similar, currently considering Vision Systems or AluK but Dutemann look v good.
