Kitchen Companies

We've contacted a few companies to plan and install a kitchen refurb and we really like one in particular. The company is new (registered end of last year), and it's owned by one person and their the sole shareholder. I appreciate that someone has to be first customer (although we'll be 4 or 5th). The owner has offered to take us to a nearby house they are currently working on (with the owners permission), to see the standard of completed work, and can arrange a viewing at the factory where the kitchens are made to see their products and finishes.

Aside from the obvious (insurance, liability, etc.,) are there any questions I should be asking or anything I should be aware of? Appreciate any advise.

Anyone? I appreciate it’s a bit of a boring one Grin

Not boring to me but I am having trouble with my choice of kitchen too!

Why don't you go and look? I think you might be pleasantly surprised and have a better service from a sole trader than a large company.

That's my experience anyway

Pay by credit card if at all possible - it's a major purchase and you'll be better protected. Don't pay for everything upfront.

That's been our experience so far Guardsman18, the person has been really helpful with their ideas and the amount of time they took to discuss how we use our kitchen and what doesn't work for us in the existing lay out. We had a big company one round today and the person who turned up said they like their job because they job because they get paid regardless (they used to have their own business!) Shock

Good tip wowfudge - haven't discussed payment yet so this is a probably my main concern.
