Grout colour

Hi all,

I’d really welcome some opinions on what colour grout I should go for in my kitchen...

The tiles are dark grey slate. Our builder thinks we should use light grey grout. We were thinking dark grey before he said this, as the plan is for the kitchen floor to extend beyond the bifold doors to form an outdoor patio area and dark grout seems more practical for outside.

What are your thoughts? Does light grey grout show marks/stains?

Many thanks!

I should add that they are floor tiles if that’s not clear!

Dark, speaking with bitter experience.

My issue with dark grout is water marks show up so badly. This from bitter experience. It's light grout for me from now on.

We had dark grey large slate effect tiles in a bathroom and went for a colour that matches the tile as closely as possible. They options shouldn’t be just ‘dark’ and ‘light’ - there’s a whole spectrum of grey grout available...! It made the whole room look much more expensive having a close match rather than having light coloured lines running all over the place. I did however completely do the tiler’s head in with my agonising over grout colour.... We didn’t have any particular issues with watermarks but then we’re not in a hard water area.

I'd definitely go darker OP we are tiling our kitchen at the moment and like you it leads out via bifolds to a patio area. We listened to our tiler last week for the hall (reclaimed Minton tiles) and went lighter Blushgiven the grout had already changed colour by the front door I am already regretting that decision........
