Cooker hood over island

What sort of extractor does everyone have over their island/peninsula? I absolutely hate extractors but am struggling as we are having steel work directly above island and kitchen fitter says we have to have an extractor to conform to building regs. How does everyone have such lovely extractors and stillconfirm to building regs? I saw Bax had a beautiful one but my builder says that style is not building reg conforming.☹️

We have a flush one, built into a box over our hob so it houses lights as well

You can just use a basic extractor like you have in your bathroom to meet building regs. We're having a downdraft extractor.

What is that 4 years? Is it a pop up one??

We put a cheap and ugly extractor in to meet building regs, then took it out. We have a window so I never use an extractor.

We're not having one. It's going in to an existing space so i think we'll be fine with building regs as there isn't one atm (only a recirculating one) but if they are difficult I'll get one put in the wall then removed again!

Yes, we're going with a pop up downdraft. Myappliances does unbranded CDA appliances and we're going for the 90cm one at £379 it has a 2 year parts & labour guarantee and u figure if it does after that we'll be able to afford an expensive one 🤷🏽‍♀️
